Kayden Poe (right) and Maggie Johnson use large rollers to paint the chain-link fence surrounding the Appalachian Ministries of the Smokies (AMOS) Outlet Center in Jefferson City. The two were part of a crew of Jefferson County High Service Learning students who recently pitched in to complete the project for the local ministry. Senior Jacob Moore proposed helping AMOS as a class project. Students also plan to pressure wash and clean the exterior of the Outlet Center on Old Andrew Johnson Highway, so that other volunteers can paint the building this summer. – Dale Gentry | The Standard Banner
